Archie the Nigerian Dwarf Goat Romancer

Now there’s a funny Title, but it’s so true! You see, Archie our Nigerian Dwarf Buck, pictured here, and his brother Carl, both like the Ladies and both provide stud service to the Does who come to visit! Both boys like their job! But Archie is the real Romancer!

Owning both Does and Bucks is interesting at times, and we’ve seen the boys do some funny things and make a wide variety of sounds, grunts, growl, and so on. Howe er, it wasn’t till we had a visit from Luna, a Nigerian Dwarf Doe, a couple days ago, that we really got to see the difference between our boys!

While Carl and Archie are twin bucks, there are differences and when Luna come looking for a real Stud we introduced her to Carl. See, Carl is the kind of guy you pick up on .Saturday night but don’t take home to your Mom! So, when Carl first saw Luna he pursued her, chased her all over, and she made him run in circles! He was really head over heels for her but after careful consideration Luna decided that He just wasn’t the Buck for Her! Although she kept hearing another, not far away, in The Buck Pen

So, as in many relationships, the Doe determines the mood of the relationship and Luna thought she’d like to see the other brother, Archie! After all, he seemed to make some interesting noises from the Buck Pen!

So, Carl went heartbroken back to the Buck Pen, and His brother, Archie come out! Well, while Carl and Archie are twins, they have much different courtship styles! Archie is the real Nigerian Dwarf Goat Romancer! When Archie saw Luna he walked up, rubbed her cheek, massaged her back, stroked her leg, and then stood back and serenaded Her! Best described in Human terms as a harmonic, melodic, humming! To which there was a beautiful tune that Luna must have loved! Cause now Luna should be expecting little ones by the end of May!

The First Sunrise of The New Year 2021

With a Mew Year, comes new hopes an catspirations!

Ok, so that was a typo! But what a wonderful typo it was!

So, it’s true, the only thing that changed is the date! But, what if we decide to embrace this, and every, sunrise with expectation and inspiration? Why the World would be a different place!

Really, when it comes down to it, it’s really up to You and Me!

Let’s decide to make 2021 the Nest Year Ever!

Yes, another typo!

So we already know we’ll make mistakes, sometimes happy mistakes, sometimes mistakes that need correction!

Yet, we need to embrace them! Embrace it all! For after all… The Sun Will,Come Up,Tomorrow! Let’s Feel The Fear and Do it Anyway! It’s ok to feel the fear, but we don need to dwell on it, nor do we need to choose it!

Choose Fun, not Fear! When things get tough, and the fear becomes to much, come visit us at Briden Farm and choose to have fun, enjoying time with the animals, walking the woodlands, and enjoying your time here at Briden Farm, where the Tea is always on, and the Coffee is not far behind!

Happy New Year 2021

To think that 21 years ago we waited for Midnight with bated breath as Y2K approached and certain doom loomed at the Midnight Hour! This year, I think it’s the opposite for most people! 2020 has been the near beginning of the Apocalypse for some, and pure “heck” on earth for others!

However, there are also positive things 2020 will be remembered for! In many ways it’s forced people to spend more time at home, with family, and to refocus on the things that are most important to us! Even some businesses have benefited as more business has moved to online and local. Which seems like a contradiction but in many cases if we can get it local, we have, and other things we’ve ordered online! Sometimes from Small Businesses! So, although we all know that 2020 has been a rough ride for many, it has brought with it, as does any adversity, the seeds of greatness.

For Us, it’s definitely meant changes! In March and April we literally didn’t know where we were going to live when we got home, or even if we’d have a Home! Then by the time May rolled around we had moved home to Nova Scotia and we’re living in the Ditmar House, on Ditmar Brook where we had a garden and were taking steps toward self reliance and becoming more self sustaining. Which is something a lot of people moved toward in 2020. Then, by August things changed again and we were able to buy our 22 acre homestead on the banks of West Branch Bear River with Franklin Brook running through it. By late August we had our Nigerian Dwarf Goats and by the first of Sept we were moving into what would become known as Briden Farm and by the middle of September we had started our mixed flock of Chickens. Then, on 30 October 2020, we launched this Website, on what is known as Mischief Night! Since then We’ve had over 4,000 Visitors make nearly 10,000 visits to our Website! Plus those of us who have visited us at Briden Farm here in Bear River, Nova Scotia overlooking the Head of the Tide!

So, surprisingly, I have to say, in many ways I’m thankful for 2020. Despite the many negatives and adversities it brought, It has also brought us a clearer vision of who we are, where we want to be, and how as we grow older it’s our friends, friends like family, who become our family!

We want to close this Post, and this Year, by thanking You all, our friends, family, clients, customers and others, for making 2020 truly amazing and we know that together we can welcome 2021 with open arms and with great expectations of making it the best year possible!
