Three Years Of Website Stats

We launched BridnFarm.com on Mischief Night 2020, nearly three months after we bought our new Homestead and started, once again, our journey into Farming. At that point we had no idea there were Terms for what we wanted to do! We had talked to various people who had animals over the years and learned what we thought would work best for us to naturally raise our animals, and help turn woodlands to pastures and gardens. Over time we learned that what we were doing with our Goats and Pigs, and later Chickens and Rabbits, and now all those plus our Sheep and Muscovy Ducks and other Critters, was called Regenerative Farming. Employing Rotational Pastures, and practices of grass and pasture management to help ensure success. The first year our gardens hardly grew, the second year we saw small improvements. We even began to discover ways to get help, while helping others, through programs like WWOOF and WorkAway. As we learned, made mistakes, had heartbreaks, and continued on, so did the number of Website Visitors and now we’re approaching 900,000 Website Visits! Nearly half of those Visits have come in just the past Twelve Months! We are so thankful for You and others like you, who have taken the time to visit, both online and in person. Those who have made Donations and come to be friends and supporters of our ongoing efforts to be the best Caretakers and Stewards of these lands and animals.

We’ve been Blessed … To You… We Say… Thank You!

Milking Our Goat On Pasture At The Barn Property

Milking Our Goat On Pasture

One of my long time dreams, when it comes to goats, is to be able to sit o a hillside and milk a goat. I realized that dream a few days ago! It was a misty morning, the sun just breaking through, and the hill was overlooking the work the goats and pigs have been doing at The Barn Property. Unfortunately I didn’t get a video of that!

However, today, the Barn Property owner, Cheryl was there and did the following video of us milking …

We use our Briden Farm Goats, Pigs, Chickens, and Bunnies to help rid the area of invasive weeds, like Japanese Knotweed, Goldenrod, and Lupines. The animals do an incredible job, as seen in the photo above. Not only do they do a good job getting rid of weeds, the disturbance they cause the vegetation and soil helps to regenerate the land as is evidenced by the green grass that emerges after the animals pass through, as we rotate their pasture.

If you’d like more information on how our Briden Farm animals work and the results, we do have testimonials and would love to talk to You. Contact Brian at Briden Farm 902-907-0770.

Moving Our Pigs At Briden Farm

Pigs at Briden Farm

This is our first time having Pigs, and we weren’t sure what to expect! I jokingly say that this whole thing is just my act of rebellion! See, while I’ve always sort of felt an affinity to Goats and Pigs! (Hey, I heard that!) . My Dad would never let me have either as he had bad experiences with both. He had one, for a very short time, an old Nanny Goat, named Pandora! I think the name it’s self should has given him a clue! Anyway, that’s a story for another day!

Dad always thought Pigs were to complicated, and had to many  diseases, and yet talking to those who currently have pigs they seem to really enjoy them! So we got Pigs…

One thing I’d heard many people, who are both pro and con on pigs, say is how difficult they can be to move! Especially if you’re doing rotational pasturing. Which is of course what we’re doing. So, yesterday when we moved them from pasture two, to pasture four, I thought it might be good if we tried to video the whole ordeal! Thankfully it went quite well!

If You’d like more information on our pigs, or other goings on, here at Briden Farm, give us a call 902-907-0770 or come for a visit.
