Naturally Turning Woodlands into Pastures and Gardens with Animals

I’m always amazed at the wonderful work these animals do! Turning woodlands into pastures and gardens takes work. Yet our Briden Farm Animals make it look easy! They also make it look beautiful! Following are some before and after shots.

This area was old, very old, pasture about forty years ago! Overgrown and full of weeds, stag horn sumac, and so on. Till we introduced our Goats, and Sheep, to the are! Now look…

Incredible! Isn’t it?
The area above was also grown up, overgrown, and difficult to maneuver. Now it’s Beautiful!
This gives You an idea of the before and after.
I also love how they help create little trails and quiet spaces
Sometimes I just like to sit and enjoy the views.
Almost like Parklands

Do You have property that is overgrown, full of weeds, briars and brambles, and other nasty invasive species? Would You like to turn it into beautiful areas like we have here? Contact Brian at Briden Farm call 902-907-0770

Moving Our Berkshire Pigs To Electric Wire Fencing

Berkshire Pigs on Woodland Pasture

We brought Larry, Curly and Moe, our Berkshire Pigs home to Briden Farm on March 27, 2022, when they were just ten weeks old. They’re now about 17 weeks old.

We’ve actually had them on Woodland Pasture since their arrival. Introducing them to Electric Wire Fencing a couple weeks ago. It’s first time using Electric Wire Fencing for pigs, and I really wondered! t’s hard to believe you can string a couple, or three strands of wire, hook it to a fence charger, and have those pigs stay in their pasture! It’s incredible to see…

I could watch them All day! They’re incredible to watch! Seeing how they interact, how the work, and how they recognize things like the white fence posts and electric wires. You can literally see that they recognize it!

If you’ve never sat and watched Pigs work! We invite You to come spend sometime at Briden Farm. Call Now to Book A Time to Visit. Call Brian at (902) 907-0770

Expanding Our Woodland Pastures

Hauling Cages For Fencing

Today we’re working to move nine loads of 9 old mink cages toward the back of our Pasture area. These cages will be used to make fencing for our Nigerian Dwarf Goats and Berkshire Tamworth Hogs.

The kind of exciting thing about this is, up till now, we’ve been turning all the previous little rotational pastures, averaging around 1000-1500 sq ft each, into garden plots. This new area will be the first actual woodland area that may get turned into a forage and pasture feed area.

It’s also getting me to Wonder, where next! The area beyond the current pasture area is where the old hay field was, or is, and it needs to be rejuvenated. However, across from the current pastures is a possibility as it is thicker an would make a good goat and pig pasture. However, it’s probably also where I can get the most accessible firewood. The other possible area is right up hill of our house, which used to be gardens, and is also the easiest to get electric fencing setup on, which is also likely our next go to!

As always, we invite you to leave your fears behind and come embrace the fun at Briden Farm, where the Tea is always on, and the Coffee is not far behind!
