Making Yogurt at Briden Farm

Making Yogurt at Briden Farm is a great way to make use of our excess goat milk. We already make cheese, butter, cream, buttermilk, and whey, and today we made our first batch of Yogurt! I’m very pleased to say it was great! To be honest, I’ve never been a big fan of Store boughten yogurt, but this farm fresh yogurt made from our own Goat Milk is incredible! Flavouring Yogurt with Watkins Extracts is also incredible! (Click Here for more on that)

We used Watkins Extract to flavour it. We made some Pumpkin Spice because today was Halloween. We also made some Raspberry and I really liked the way it turned out! I even liked the Plain Yogurt which was a surprise to me! Here’s a video of the Yogurt we made…

  1. Looks delicious! So thick and rich. I make yogurt from cow’s milk, but would like to use our own fresh goat milk. What did you use for starter?

    1. Hi Christie, you’ve hit upon, perhaps, the most difficult and crucial part of any good Yogurt! The Starter! I’ve read that you can make one using citric acid and I first tried Lemon Juice, but that failed. I’ve also read you can order one on Amazon, but I’m not that patient! It’s said that you can also use a plain, store bought yogurt, but I haven’t tried that yet! The one I used was, thankfully, given to me by a friend! She had made Yogurt and saved part of it for me. You simply take that, about a cup, and add it to your milk. Our milk come from our Goats and makes a nice rich, thick, yogurt. I’m not a big fan or store bought yogurt, but this homemade one was great!
