A Coup at the Coop at Briden Farm

After careful inspection of the Snowblower and given thought to what being harnessed to that machine might mean, the Chickens did the quick March back to the Coop planning a Coup! However, after thorough talks, and careful consideration, They’ve decide it’s a job better left to the Goats… or … rather… One Old Goat!

Smothered Steak, Rice, and Stewed Onions

Part of the fun at the farm is in the food we eat, it often comes from our farm, or garden, or one nearby and often has been harvested by us, or with friends, and isn’t that what fun is really all about!?

Recently we made, Fried Potatoes, Wild Field Mushrooms, and Steaks, and wrote about that, and now here we are showing off our Smothered Steak, Rice, and Stewed Onions!

To make it we started with a frying pan on our wood stove and sprayed it with Cooking Spray, from Watkins, so it wouldn’t stick. Then we added the steak, and cut up onions over it, and added in a little water and a couple tablespoons of Watkins Chicken Soup and Gravy mix! Then simmered it, covered, till done.

Jack Visits Jack

Our friend come by the other day, with Her Grand Son Jack. We introduced Jack to our Cockerel, Jack! Then realized that the Homestead we now call Briden Farm used to belong to yet another Jack! Perhaps the title really should be “Jack Meets Jack At Jack’s”.

While here, Jack (The Grandson) also got to meet our other Chickens and Goats! A fun time was had by all, including Jack’s Grandmother, Angela McMullen of ForestWriting.com or more officially known, at least by Jack, as  “Grangela”. So, We also want to say thanks to Grangela for taking the Photos!
